Hong Kong Adopt The Year Of The Dragon

The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) teamed up last night (February 8) to welcome 120 travel industry VIPs to The Carlu in Toronto to celebrate the Year of the Dragon celebrate.

In addition to celebrating the strength, courage and resilience that the Year of the Dragon brings, the evening was also about celebrating HKTB’s partnerships with the travel industry – both long-standing and new relationships with tour operators and Travel advisors forged in 2024.

“Hong Kong is back,” HKTB Director for the Americas Michael Lim noted in his address to guests, noting that Hong Kong welcomed 34 million visitors in 2023 and expectations are high that these numbers will rise in the coming year.

New hotels & attractions

Lim told Press Today that while flight capacity is still a bit of a challenge at the moment, this will improve and the HKTB also sees some big opportunities in multi-destination travel in the future.

And there is definitely a lot going on in the travel destinations: 15 new hotels are online or will be online; new attractions; the expansion of Disney and Ocean Park; 80 mega events are planned; and much more.

Lim also noted that the HKTB has already hosted Canadian tour operators on a number of fams to show them what’s new in terms of itineraries, attractions and activities and to “re-engage” them about the destination.

So stay tuned, Hong Kong will have a lot to offer in the Year of the Dragon.
