Grenada Tourism & Blue Diamond Resorts host agent event in Toronto

Grenada Tourism Authority and Blue Diamond

The Grenada Tourism Authority and Blue Diamond Resorts are jointly extending a hand of friendship for travel agents considering sending clients to Grenada or visiting it themselves.

On Jan. 17, the tourism authority and the resort company held a joint event in Toronto. During the event, tourism officials invited agents to boost their knowledge of the destination with a quick trip, while Blue Diamond suggested agents stop by at its Royalton resort to see it for themselves.

“Knowledge is power,” Sekou Stroude, the tourism authority’s director of sales for Canada, told the Wednesday gathering. “Grenada is open for your clients. And Grenada is open for you.”

Committed to Canada, Grenada Tourism

Stroude added that the tourism authority is happy to work with agents spending as little as a day on Grenada during cruise ship visits.

Randall Dolland, chairman of the tourism authority, was also in attendance, and mentioned that the authority will be paying increased attention to the Canadian market. “We’re fully committed to you,” Dolland said. Grenada has “wonderful attractions” to complement great resorts, he continued.

Todd Kiirlik, senior director, trade sales and business development for Blue Diamond, said agents visiting Grenada on cruises are welcome to go on site inspections of its Royalton property there, and can also tour it if they’re staying at another Grenada resort. He mentioned that the Royalton also offers trade and industry rates.

Kirlik added that he has visited Grenada and was won over by it, declaring it to be among other things “nice and peaceful” and a “great destination for honeymooners.”

Among those who attended the Toronto event was TPI agent Sheila Aue, who has visited Grenada and told Press Today that the destination is “safe, authentic and sustainable.”
