FITUR 44th annual trade Closed show in Madrid

FITUR, a global meeting point for tourism professionals and one of the largest trade fairs for Latin American markets, recently concluded its 44th annual international tourism fair in Madrid, Spain.

FITUR took place this year at IFEMA Madrid from 24 to 28 January and welcomed a total of 250,000 visitors over five days. These figures represent an increase of 13.7% compared to 2023, in line with IFEMA MADRID’s estimate.

The fair was attended by all players in the tourism industry value chain and demonstrated the dynamism of the sector through numerous business transactions, expanded networks and the exchange of best practices and knowledge.

Record-breaking attendance

FITUR 2024 had a record-breaking exhibition space with a total of nine pavilions, attracting visitors from 152 countries and 96 national official participations. Added to these were 806 main exhibitors and 10 monographic areas for tourism segments – FITUR 4all, TechY, Cruises, Know-How & Export, LGTB+, Language, Screen, Sport, Talent and Women – in addition to the work of the FITURNEXT observatory as a channel for the sustainable commitment of the International Tourism Fair.

Organized by Ifema Madrid, the influx of international visitors to FITUR is expected to generate approximately €430 million in revenue for the city of Madrid.

Strong institutional and sector support

In addition to demonstrating the Royal Family’s support for the tourism industry in the presence of Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia, FITUR was attended by prominent figures such as Daniel Noboa, President of Ecuador, a partner country of International Tourism. year.

He also received the official visit of the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez; Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama; Representatives of UNTWO together with its Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili, the Ibero-American Secretary General, as well as more than 10 regional presidents of Spain.

In total, almost 400 authorities attended the fair, including ministers, undersecretaries of state, ambassadors, business representatives and mayors from different regions.

IFEMA Madrid is already working on FITUR 2025, which will take place from 22 to 26 January, with Mexico as FITUR’s partner country.
